garbage collecting

I don't think they should call it web surfing any more. It should definitely be called garbage collecting, because that's basically what you're doing when you go out and explore the web. For the most part, there's really nothing worth while out there.

Of course, I do say for the most part. My friends make fun of me for the amount of time i spend on the web. That's okay, becuase it's true. I spend way too much time out there. There's definitely way too much icky stuff to step in on the way through "cyberspace" (ick ick ick). Too many generic pages. Too many pictures of people and their cats. Too many links, not enough words.

For the most part, commercial pages are fine. They serve a purpose, and for the most part they play their part well. They advertise. They sell a product. Some go further than that, and they try to create a community for their customers. But basically they just sell.

I don't want personal pages to sell me. I want to know where you go to school. What kind of cat you have. Who your boy/girlfriend is. But I want to know more. I want to know about feelings you had on the first day of school. I want to know how you felt when your cat got hit by a car. I want to know about the first time you met your significant other. I want to know you. (second person? where the heck did that come from? just go with it)

Until more people realize that others don't really care that they are in the bottom 95% of the web and that this site is best viewed with netscape, the web will just be another waste of time.
