another kind of me

a trip through me

thursday, february 4, 1999, 03:31

further proof that computers have totally changed the way i function in the world. while at the moe./jiggle the handle concert tonight (which, incidentally, completely blew away the slip, who i saw a couple of weeks ago) i couldn't help but slip into thinking about my web page. and other web pages. and how i would redesign them. and how i would build the navagation scheme. and the backend. and all that other shit that i really shouldn't be thinking about at a concert.

on the other hand, we did end up standing for five hours tonight, through three sets of two bands plus the encore where moe played an amusing yet not quite so coherent rendition of "sweet home alabama" which was a lot of fun despite the fact that the lead singer couldn't remember the words and then his patch cable fell out leaving him without his bass and leaving the other members of the band to pick up the slack on the flute and mandolin, in addition to the normal instruments. all in all the concert was good, except for the fact that the peopel around me happened to be smoking the largest joints in existence and felt the need to blow smoke in my face.

and what's up with this touching thing? and i don't mean touching in any good sense of the word. what i'm really talking about is the guys who walk past you and feel the need to put their hand on your shoulder as if to say "hey man, i see we're at this concert together so i'm going to do this strange male bonding thing here and lay my hand on your shoulder while i shove you out of my drunken way." i really just don't get it, but i know that it happened to me a number of times tonight.

and then there was that old guy. he gestured off to the edge of the crowd as if to say that he wanted to go "that way" and i'm sure he was trying to communicate some greater scheme to me, but at the time, i wasn't really interested in what he had to say. he was scary.

at least my hearing's come back since i all but lost it at the show. just in time for me to fall asleep at the computer. and let me tell you, i don't want any guy in a tanktop to touch me again. ever.

I wonder if they let you do that in the real world? I wonder if people are this tired in the real world...
