Other Spots on the World Wide Web
The World Wide Web offers such a wide variety of information that it
is impossible to sum it up in any number of words. The best way to see
what the web offers is to take a look for yourself. I have included some
links to other web sites that may be of interest to you. These pages
will, in turn, link to other pages, which will link to others, and so on.
Be sure to keep your eye on the clock, as you can easily lose yourself in
the vastness of the web.
Information on the Town of New Castle. This page is part of the
town's participation in a state-wide internet project.
Two great starting points for web exploration. Yahoo is more of a Web
index where Lycos is actually a search engine. Don't worry about the
differences. Just know that they're both really cool.
"EdWeb is a guide to the world of educational computing and
networking maintained by Andy Carvin of the Corporation for Public
Broadcasting. The site provides access to many useful resources for K-12
teachers--some interactive--including discussion groups, lessons
plans, and firsthand teaching experience stories. The interface is
simple to use and offers access to an online technical dictionary on
every page."
"Just as U.S. Highway Route 66 was a catalyst for Americana, we
see the World Wide Web as a catalyst that will integrate the Internet
into K12 school curriculums. The University of Minnesota is beginning
project Web66 to facilitate the introduction of this technology into
K12 schools. The goals of this project are:
- To help K12 educators learn how to set up their own Internet servers.
- To link K12 WWW servers and the educators and students at those schools.
- To help K12 educators find and use K12 appropriate resources on the
WWW."
Other New York schools on the web.
Many internet resources can be found here, including the NYSERNet
Gopher server.
A huge listing of secondary schools around the world. Actually, they
claim to have every secondary school in the world that has a
homepage, but that's hard to believe. It is worth a look though.
A very comprehensive listing of email addresses from colleges and
universities in the US.
"If you are interested in furthering your education, then
CollegeTown is for you. You can research over 10,000 postsecondary
schools, learn how to secure financing, communicate directly with college
admission professionals, and much more."
The Financial Aid Information Page - Well worth a look,
considering the cost of going to college these days. And it's free.
You have to fill out their guest book, but they have a lot of
interesting and useful information.
