another kind of me

a trip through me

it's amazing how many stars you can see when you get far enough away from the city. not that i'd really call this place much of a city, but they seems to think so, and who am i to argue.

travelling out, past the lights of the cities, off the highway, through the towns, we ended up last night at a beach. it was not yet midnight. "gates locked at sunset" said the sign out front. not that we were going to let that stop us or anything. pushed the gate open with a creak, and it didn't. it really was locked. to the other gate, clanging of metal, some manuvering, and it came apart, creaked open, all the way this time, and they drove in. down the darkened road, all the way through two parking lots, and a walk down the path to the sand. that path must seem a lot shorter during the day.

the sky was alive with stars, many of them, surprisingly enough, shooting across the darkness. laughing and talking behind us, the girls had decided that skinnydipping was the way to go, and in the dark, what's the difference. losing them in the waves, finally catching sight of two naked bodies in the reflection of the golden moon on the water, a picture most definitely taken many times before, but still spectacular when witnessed in person.

and standing there in the cool breeze we stood and watched as the moon faded from a bright white, to gold, to amber, and slowly sank in the distance, falling behind clouds, looking as if someone had taken pieces out of the middle of it until it disappeared from sight.

why on earth would they close at sunset and deprive everyone of those sights?

definitely try the beach at night. as often as possible.
