another kind of me

a trip through me

sunday, july 5, 1998, 00:16

it was looking like this day of patriotism was going to be a complete washout for me considering there are no fireworks in the city and i didn't have access to a car. and i was wandering around wondering what i was going to end up doing when i ran into soren and, in an unlikely turn of events, eventually made it out about twenty minutes away to some water to Brisol, the town with the oldest fourth of july parade in the country and while the parade, being a day event, was long over by the time we got there, the streets were still crawling with people all out to witness some big pretty explosions.

well that, and most of them were steering towards the beer as well.

and we watched some pretty fireworks and continued walking down the bike path, past the crowds of people heading away, heading home or to the bars, and ended up at the end of the path by a big gun on the edge of the water and sat, watching the water with the boats bobbing up and down in the chilly summer night with the occasional firecracker going off in someone's backyard, and just sitting there, four on the edge overlooking the water talking and watching as the people packed back into their cars and drove off back to their homes after enjoying the hours of patriotism for the year.

i think it's so funny that you've got all these people all out yelling and screaming flinging their flags and watching the big booms in the sky when you know that tomorrow they're going to go back to watching jerry and ricky on tv and not give a rat's ass about this country that they're living in other than the fact that it means that they can run around with guns and snork down micky-ds and not have to worry a damn because the system is ...

what the hell am i talking about.

i think i just wish that people were this happy about theirs lives more often.
